About the Course
Deme Acres was designed and built by the Bruce family and opened in 1962.
The course was designed and built by George and Mildred Bruce. In 1961, with their sons, Jim and Gene, they developed the first nine holes. The next year, a second nine was added.
The family owned course is in a quiet, rural setting and has wide fairways lined with beautiful evergreen trees. The 18 hole Par 70 course is open to the public daily. Jim and Carol Bruce are the present managers.
The name, DEME, is derived from the last letter of each family member's first name. MILDRED, GEORGE, JIM, and GENE.
The Course
Front Nine
The front 9, with a par of 36, is longer and more open. The beautiful signature hole #5 is a 225 yard par 3 with a stream and willow trees lining the left edge.
Back Nine
The back 9, with a par of 34 is much shorter, but is very tight with tall white pine and spruce trees lining each hole. Hole 17, a 350 yard par 4 is easy on the eyes, but hard on the game. With a slight dogleg to the right, this hole is known for destroying rounds.
